Henrik Drescher is noted for his casual, spontaneous mix-media drawings using found materials from day to day life. From these somewhat ordinary materials sprout incredibly interesting visuals, reflecting his keen observation of things around him and his many many extraordinary experiences in life.
Last Fall Drescher had a two-person exhibition at INDEXG where he showed, for the first time his unique, large-scale collage paintings. In this new exhibition, entitled "recent picture by henrik drescher"- a series of images based on notebook marginalia showcases the artist most recent work. Currently Drescher is also presented in a solo exhibition "Ornamental Breakdown" in the University Art Gallery at UMass Dartmouth (USA).
Born in Copenhagen, Henrik Drescher and his family emigrated to the United States in 1962. He studied briefly for one semester at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (1974) and began working in illustration around Boston. A world traveler, Henrik traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe, lived in Bali and New Zealand before moving to Dali, Yunnan province (close to Tibet and Laos). Henrik Drescher is currently living between Yunnan and Toronto. |
