"pater noster" is a series of black and white still-life photography by Japanese photographer Hideo Suzuki.
Since childhood, Suzuki has been fascinated by the history of science. His modestly constructed mini-sets are staged with cosmic scenarios, planets, constellations and angels. With the advent of the industrial revolution, the planets are replaced by mechanical tools, engines, scenes of scientific inventions and discoveries.
Hideo Suzuki's photographs recapture childhood memories and curiosity, an afternoon in the laboratory, a class that has just been dismissed. His photographs have an universal theme and are executed with technical expertise, enhanced further by strong and well-balanced composition.
Hideo Suzuki graduated from Tokyo University of Art and design majoring photography in 1976. He has exhibited in Japan, Hong Kong and Canada and was the recipient of an award with his publication "pater noster" in Photokina 1998. |
