Current Exhibitions |
Showing now at G+ are several exhibitions that are poetic and contemplative. Normand Rajotte's photographic work "Watching The River Flow By" invites viewers to his microcosmic gaze of nature, while Simon Glass's recent suite of rich and majestic photographs "The Ten Commandments / Prohibited Weapons" examines law, justice and most importantly, man's free will to judge. On one wall the Mongolian artist Burigude Zhang exhibits four screen and colograph prints with titles like "Ink Clouds", "Five Elements", "Cold and Hot" and, "Solidity" - minimal, Zen but full of impact . In the showcase table, Burigude's collaboration with UK artist Ian Colverson on the hand printed book "Ho Chuan" is a must-see. It is a portfolio of six folded pages of screen print and etching - all based on one love poem written by the famous Northern Sung Dynasty poet Chin Kuan (1049-1100). Featured in one of the pages is Burigude's gorgeous calligraphy of the poem. On the GOOD Edition Series wall, we introduce James Fisher's drawing "Farmacia Monstrosity" which is a body of work inspired by Leonardo da Vinci. James Fisher embraces the form of da Vinci's studies and combining that with his own passion for strange creatures, creating a new breed of fantastical and grotesque life forms. Come join us and meet the artists in the opening reception this Thursday, November 29, from 7 to 10 pm.

This projection hopes to tell a broader story than just that of war. The Balkans: Of Time and Place, offers a small part of that recent history, addressing some of the issues that the region and people have been burdened by, but it also attempts to tell a broader story, not one merely of suffering and death. In fact, one of the photographers work is not confined to the Balkans but rather is a poetic exploration of life as diaspora: an inherent condition in a land strife with movement, migration, defining separation, exodus. By highlighting the work of three richly-talented photographers whose work settles over three distinct areas, Bosnia, Serbia and Kosovo and beyond the borders of that metamorphosing land, the projection hopes to highlight the fact that the Balkans are not constrained solely by war and death. By showing the work of the photographers Michael Bowring, Velibor Bozovic and Andrew Testa, we hope to broaden the viewers expectation and understanding of the area. (Robert Black) |

He has completed a full-length graphic novel entitled "The Taboo Floo" which was independently released.
