Current Exhibitions |
Exhibitions at INDEXG in early November coincidentally carry the theme of scapes - Beijing, Italy and Honduras. While works of Beijing (Han Xu: photography) and Italian Views (Jeff Jackson) are tangible scapes or views, the mixed-media work of Nahúm Flores (Voices from the Other Rooms of my House) reflects the intangible mindscape of a person who lived in a land that was affected by the social upheaval and wars of Central America. Come and experience these different flavours. They are enriching, stimulating as well as palatable. Artist Reception for all exhibitions: Thursday, November 1 , 2007 (7-10 pm)

Han Xu spent a period of five years to document areas around the Beijing Palace and important landmarks which were gradually demolished making way for new buildings. Without respect and proper preservation, some of the remaining landmarks are now employed mainly as "tourists designations", and have lost their histories, integrity and original appearance.??Han was trained in oil painting in the Central Arts Institute in Beijing from 1994 to 1996, during which he had also taken course in photography. Han emigrated from China to Canada in 2001 and continues his artistic career with both mediums. His recent work, which consists of photography and video was shown in G+ GALLERIES and Harbour Front Centre in Toronto. | |||
