Art consuming, in a way, is an extension of the creative process after the artwork has been made. There are ways of collecting, and different types of collectors as well. Some collect for their walls, some collect as part of a mass collections, some collect for their pure love and some collect for the investment of their future bins. INDEXG emphasizes on art consuming in many ways. A private art dealer Louise Pharand Doren has just sucessfully mounted the exhibition Maraud'Age at INDEXG, lining up promising Canadian artists such as David Swartz, Marian Wihak with the lengendary Philip Pearlstein & Andy Warhol. Moving fast, the week right after Maraud'Age is the G (art) FAIR 07. The first of its kind in Toronto, it is an event held under the roof of a professionally operated gallery (versus a trade-show hall) taking place on the two floors of INDEXG. Created as an independent Scotiabank Nuit Blanche program, This SHOW+SALE event brings together more than 60 Canadian artists from the collectors' watch-list as well as artists of the new/neo generation. Highlights of the Fair include the best from the stable of REACTOR, all producing miniatures artwork targeting collectors in the high traffic Scotiabank Nuit Blanche.

In June 2007, INDEXG launched GOOD Edition. This mini format limited edition are all 5.5"x7.5" and issued in 30 editions. Set at an easy price $30, GE hit the art market by introducing a new habit of collecting - stimulates people to buy without a second thought. The very positive turnaround shapes the birth of a large scale GOOD Edition exhibition which bears the title "The Very GOOD Show". The exhibition will kick off at the Holiday Shopping season in December and as a Grand Launch of the GE project. If you are an artist, come and join us and be the part of the GOOD artists circle. An open call for international submissions for this project has been announced:

FAIR Special
Hitting the G (art)FAIR is the REACTOR miniature extravaganza - two showcase tables with over 300 tidy arts by 30 REACTOR artists including Henrik Drescher, Barbara Klunder and Tomio Nitto with price tags from $10 to $100. Hot chips were snatched away in the Preview night such as the face of Michael Jackson by Blair Drawson and Q caps by Tomio Nitto. "Perfect pre-X'mas buys" remarks made by an early bird who dropped in three hours before the Preview began (why not!). She and her friend also grabbed Daphne Gerou's two pieces of graphite on paper ($350 and $450 respectively). Uros Jelic, another new name which should be on your watching list. He kept replacing new works on the wall to fill up holes of sold items. The price of his mixed-media drawings ranges from $150 to $1200.
As a highlight of ScotiaBank Nuit Blanche, G (art) FAIR 07 continues this Saturday (September 29) from 11 am to 4 am the next day, an all night long opportunity to watch and easy buy.

Alberta born, Toronto based Dave Sheppard's focus has been predominately towards the printmaking mediums, but has recently returned to drawing and painting. Since completing his undergrad, Dave has gone on to receive the Don Wright Print Scholarship, was nominated for emerging artist of the year, designed the Bishop’s Falls municipal town flag, won an Arts and Letters Award, and recently completed his second printshop residency at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College.

Dave Sheppard wrote in his artist statement,"Through the use of metaphors, narratives, and symbolism my artwork explores the many facets of being human. Loneliness, depression, mental disorders, phobias, and regret are just a few of the universal issues that we all must deal with at some time or another. By using such strong subject matter I hope to create a tension within my art in which the viewer is able to understand its narrative and is free to decide its possible outcome however they choose."
